At Adams State University, a series of writing workshops curated by esteemed professors and artists aim to explore the transformative potential of writing, offering participants an opportunity to learn, create, and connect.
Erasure Poetry: April 10, 6p
Renowned artist and professor, Paul Tunis, invites participants into the enchanting world of erasure poetry. In this innovative workshop, attendees will embark on a journey of invention as they craft personal poems from existing pages using markers. Through the act of erasure, words will be transformed, revealing hidden narratives and unleashing creative potential.
Writing Through Trauma: April 17, 6p
Join philosophy professor, Dr. Natasha Liebig, for an insightful exploration into "Writing Through Trauma." In this poignant workshop, participants will discover the cathartic power of writing as a tool for processing and healing from traumatic experiences. With counselors available to provide support, attendees will be guided through exercises designed to navigate through emotional landscapes and find solace in the written word.
Walk/Write Meditation: April 30, 4:30p
Find tranquility amidst the chaos of finals preparation with Wil Rickards, director of the Adams State Adventure Program. Engage in a unique walking and writing meditation, designed to foster mindfulness and creativity. As participants embark on a serene journey outdoors, they will be encouraged to observe their surroundings and allow their thoughts to flow freely onto the page, preparing both mind and spirit for the challenges ahead.

These workshops are open to all individuals who have a desire to explore the art of writing, whether students, staff, faculty, or members of the community. Located at Nielsen Library, 2nd Floor, participants will find a welcoming space equipped with snacks, notebooks, and pens to ignite their creativity.
Agenda
Each workshop will begin with a 30-minute program led by the facilitator, followed by 90 minutes of dedicated writing time. Attendees are encouraged to employ the strategies learned during the workshop or work on any other writing projects they desire. The goal is to provide a nurturing environment where writers can unleash their imagination and find inspiration.
