Tips for Finishing the Semester

Paw Print Editor: Brianna Robles

As the end of the semester is around the corner students tend to lose focus as work is put off, or there is no desire to go to school as the routine of attending class becomes tedious. Well, there are plenty of ways to ease the last remaining weeks of school and power your way through finals week to end the semester on a high note.

One key element in finishing the semester strong is maintaining a routine if you have one and if you don’t create one. Creating a routine will allow students to be able to manage their time more efficiently to get assignments in on time as well as have some free time to relax and not add too much stress to the body. Leading into another important thing to consider is making attainable goals, which will allow you to focus on getting the more important things done like studying for a test or completing a major assignment.

The most significant tool to staying focuses on and not falling behind on assignments is to either make a list of assignments with their due dates on the side or write it down in your calendar on your phone to notify you when you need to complete your assignment. Time management is something that should remain a top priority because being able to prioritize assignments but also create time to hang out with friends or relax and have some alone time will also help keep your mental health as well as minimize stress.

Even as assignments may be piling up as major projects will soon be due, or finals are slowly creeping up the most important thing to finish the semester on a high note is to take care of the mind and body. Remember to get at least 8 hours of sleep per night and spend the day providing your body with the essentials such as staying hydrated and eating well. Coffee and energy drinks should not be the only thing your body consumes, and it is important to fuel the body because this will also help fuel the mind.

One other tool that is helpful when it comes to the end of the semester is if you are going to spend hours studying in the library make sure to take breaks. You can go for walks, go do laundry, clean your room, or even just simply go home and take a nap but taking breaks is essential as it will help your mind be able to reset. Overall, something to remember is at the end of the day when things seem overwhelming just remember to take a deep breath and take it day by day one task at a time.
