Women’s History Month is a time to reflect on the incredible contributions of women throughout history, but it is also a moment to recognize the remarkable women who shape our lives every day. For me, these women include family members, friends, mentors, and teammates—each of whom has played a significant role in my journey.
My Grandmother: A Pillar of Love and Support
My grandmother Maria G. Salinas is the heart of my family, and I cherish every moment with her. She has supported me in all my endeavors, always believing in my potential even when I doubted myself. Her wisdom and kindness have been a constant source of strength, reminding me that love and encouragement are some of the most powerful forces in the world. She has taught me resilience, the importance of family, and the value of unwavering support.
A Best Friend and a Guiding Light
My best friend, Precious Robinson, is someone I deeply admire. She keeps me grounded in who I am while also empowering me to chase my dreams fearlessly. She reminds me that growth does not mean losing yourself but rather becoming the best version of who you are meant to be. Through laughter, honesty, and an unbreakable bond, she continues to push me toward success and self-discovery.
My Mother: A Story of Sacrifice and Strength
My mother Norma L. Salinas/ Robles is the epitome of selflessness. She has made countless sacrifices for me, always putting my needs before her own. Even though she sometimes feels unseen, I want her to know that I recognize and value everything she has done. Her unwavering love and determination have given me the foundation to pursue my dreams. She is my role model, showing me the true meaning of perseverance and unconditional love.
My Little Sister: A Growing Source of Inspiration
Watching my little sister, Corina A. Robles, grow into the person she is becoming fills me with pride. She may be younger than me, but I already look up to her in so many ways. She is fearless, intelligent, and full of potential, and I am excited to see the impact she will have on the world. Her determination and passion inspire me to keep pushing forward and to always set an example worth following.
Mentors Who Have Shaped My Journey
Here at Adams State, I have been fortunate to learn from some incredible women. Dr. King, Professor LeBlanc, and Dr. Bonnstetter have all played crucial roles in my academic and personal growth. Their guidance has helped me navigate challenges, refine my skills, and see my own potential in ways I never had before. Their belief in me has fueled my drive to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
The Women of My Track Team: Strength and Determination
Finally, I want to acknowledge the amazing women on my track team. Every day, they work tirelessly to improve, pushing through setbacks and striving toward their goals. Their perseverance and dedication inspire me to keep pushing myself, both as an athlete and as a person.
A Tribute to the Women Who Inspire Me
Women’s History Month is about honoring the past, but it is also about celebrating the present. The women in my life have shaped me in ways I cannot fully express, and I am grateful for each of them. Their love, strength, and determination remind me every day why it is so important to uplift and support the women around us. This month, I celebrate them—and all the incredible women who continue to make a difference in the world.
