As April rolls in, so does National Poetry Month, a time to revel in the beauty of verse and celebrate the power of poetic expression. To mark this special occasion, we at Paw Print are thrilled to announce our National Poetry Month Contest, inviting poets of all levels to participate and showcase their talents. Here are the guidelines for the contest:
Duration: The contest will run from April 5th to April 14th, providing ample time for poets to craft and submit their works.
Genres: We welcome poems in three distinct genres:
1. Traditional Poetry: Dive into the timeless elegance of traditional forms such as sonnets, haikus, villanelles, and more.
2. Narrative Poetry: Tell captivating stories or convey sequences of events through your poetic lens.
3. Free Verse Poetry: Embrace the freedom of expression with poems characterized by their lack of strict meter or rhyme scheme.
Submission Guidelines:
1. Each participant may submit up to three poems, ensuring that at least one poem falls under each genre.
2. Poems must be original and previously unpublished.
3. Submissions should be in English and not exceed 40 lines.
4. Please include your name, email address, and the genre of each poem in your submission.
5. Send your submissions via email to asupawprint@gmail.com with the subject line “National Poetry Month Contest Submission.”
Prizes:
Get ready to be rewarded for your poetic prowess! The top three entries, judged based on creativity, originality, and adherence to the genre, will receive the following prizes:
1. First Prize: A delightful basket filled with goodies and exclusive Paw Print merchandise, including a pen, sticker, shirt, and cardholder.
2. Second Prize: A Paw Print t-shirt, journal, pen, and cardholder.
3. Third Prize: A Paw Print t-shirt and sticker.

Winners Announcement: Keep an eye on your inbox and our social media platforms! The winners will be announced on April 19th, when their poetic prowess will be celebrated far and wide.
